  • What should I do to prepare for the Sears Home Energy Audit?

You only need to do a couple of things prior to your Sears Home Energy Audit:

    1. Allow up to 4 hours for your audit – timing varies by home and will also depend on how many questions you may have for your Blue Climate Crew consultant.

    2. If you have a fireplace, you will need to sweep out the ashes before performance testing can be completed on your home.

    3. Finally, you will need your last 12 months of utility bills available for your Sears Blue Crew consultant to review and document.

  • Is the Sears Home Energy Audit available nationally?

Currently, Sears Home Energy Audit is available in Orange County and Los Angeles County California.

  • What benefit will I get by having a Sears Home Energy Audit?

There are many benefits for having and energy audit performed on your home – the most important is the understanding of your home's total performance and the root cause for any utility cost and / or indoor air quality issues you may be experiencing. By choosing Sears your audit will be performed by a company you know and trust. In addition, you will also get a comprehensive analysis and a custom home energy improvement plan to help guide your investment decisions for a more comfortable, safer and more efficient home.

  • How does a Sears Home Energy Audit differ from an audit performed by my utility company?

Many audits available through utility companies provide general advice to make incremental improvements to your home's energy efficiency. No diagnostic testing is performed and safety and home comfort issues are usually not addressed. The recommendations are typically low or no cost measures that are focused around conservation. For example, some common recommendations might be to replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescents or to raise the thermostat to 78 degrees during the summer season.

A Sears Home Energy Audit provides customized recommendations based on scientific testing and your individual goals to help make dramatic improvements to your home's energy efficiency, safety, and comfort. Diagnostic testing is done by professionally trained and certified technicians to determine sources of inefficiency in your home. We also investigate specific and unique issues you may be having, such as why a bedroom cannot maintain a comfortable temperature in the summer despite running the air conditioner constantly. This information is then used to help create a customized solutions road map for significantly improving your home's efficiency, safety, and comfort.

  • How much will I have to pay for the audit?

The Sears Home Energy Audit $499 price includes:

    • Two onsite appointments

    • Professionally trained technicians and personal consultant

    • In Home Testing (See Audit Details)

    • Post Audit analysis and customized Home Energy Improvement plan

If you select Sears to make recommended improvements, the $499 audit fee will be credited back to you towards the improvement work totaling $5,000 or more (excluding appliances and duct work).

  • Are there financing options available for recommended improvement work?

Sears has many options to help you with financing of your Home Energy Performance Plan depending on the type of improvements recommended for your home. Your Blue Climate Crew consultant will provide additional details during your audit assessment review meeting – approximately 7 days after your actual home audit.

  • Do I and/or my spouse need to be present during the audit?

It's important that your Sears Blue Climate Crew Consultant fully understands any concerns you may have regarding the energy cost and comfort of your home; therefore, at least one homeowner must be present during the audit. In addition, we also promote active involvement throughout the audit by all owners so they can have a better understanding of the actual tests being preformed on the home and the benefit of each.
